Big Win for Clean Energy: HPCL's New 10.4 MWp Solar Plant

HPCL Renewable & Green Energy (HPRGE), a subsidiary of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), has commissioned its largest solar power project to date in Erandol Taluka, Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, marking a significant step in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy.

The 10.4 MWp solar power plant was inaugurated by Rajneesh Narang, Director (Finance), HPCL, and represents a key milestone in the company’s efforts to transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. Spread across approximately 32 acres, the facility is equipped with 18,760 solar modules and has been developed to meet captive renewable energy requirements for HPCL’s marketing and operational facilities across Maharashtra.

The project is expected to generate nearly 1.4 crore kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, helping reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while lowering carbon emissions associated with operational activities. With the commissioning of this facility, HPRGE’s total installed solar capacity has increased to 24.3 MWp, with an aggregate annual renewable energy generation capacity exceeding 3.3 crore kilowatt-hours.

The solar plant forms part of HPCL’s broader sustainability and decarbonization initiatives, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, expanding the use of captive renewable power, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations. The project also supports India’s clean energy transition objectives while advancing HPCL’s long-term roadmap toward achieving its Net Zero and environmental sustainability goals.

Through continued investments in renewable energy infrastructure, HPCL is strengthening its clean energy portfolio and reinforcing its commitment to integrating sustainable energy solutions into its business operations.
